Wrexham Dismiss Llewellyn Speculation

Last updated : 16 December 2004 By Richard Evans
Wrexham Manager Denis Smith has acted quickly in dimissing rumours that Chris Llewellyn has been involved in transfer negotiations with Swansea City. Local media had reported that Llewellyn had already discussed terms over a move to the Vetch Field but Smith has rubbished these rumours and claimed that any such move by Swansea would have been illegal.

Ex-Norwich striker Llewellyn supported Swansea as a boy and almost made the move to South Wales last season under the management of Brian Flynn...but stated that he wanted to avoid playing at the bottom of the football league. However, the Evening Post claimed that a move is definitely on again with Swansea hoping to snatch the Welsh International on a free transfer due to Wrexham's financial situation.

Denis Smith stated that the club had not received any approaches for any of his players and would be looking to discuss the situation further with Llewellyn in the near future. Should the rumours in the Evening Post be true, then Swansea could find themselves in more hot water for discussing terms with a player without the consent of his club.
