Swans Prepare For LDV Draw

Last updated : 14 September 2005 By Richard Evans
The first round draw of the LDV Vans Trophy is set to occur on Saturday morning, with Swansea placed in the Southern Section. Fellow League One rivals Colchester and Walsall have both received byes into the second round, leaving the Swans with 27 potential first round opponents.

Last season, an early goal from Wycombe's Adam Birchall was enough to see Swansea knocked out in the second round of the competition, after they had seen off the challenge of a weakened-Luton Town team in round one. Two late strikes from Sam Ricketts and veteran Kevin Nugent gave the South Wales club a 2-0 victory, with Wrexham eventually winning the competition with a late rally against Southend at the Millenium Stadium.
