Swans Make Second Summer Signing

Swansea have made their second signing in three days and landed Torquay striker Adebayo Akinfenwa. Akinfenwa has agreed personal terms at the White Rock and both clubs will go to a tribunal within the next two or three weeks to determine the final fee.

Akinfenwa netted 16 times in last season's struggling Torquay side and has turned down apparent moves to Gillingham, Swindon and Bristol Rovers to join Kenny Jackett's newly promoted team. "Bayo" was shown around the new stadium yesterday and after being offered terms, made the decision to join the Swans within less than 24 hours.

However, the whole deal appears to have left a sour taste in the mouth of Torquay Chairman Mike Bateson. "Swansea have not made any offer and frankly I'm disappointed that they should choose this route", he told the Torquay official website. "My understanding of the system is that the matter will be dealt with by tribunal only when normal negotiations have failed to come up with an agreement".

Swansea are likely to discover how much they must pay for their new striker within the next three weeks, with a figure rumoured to be within the £30k - £75k region.
