Kevin Nugent's reserve team suffered their second straight defeat of the 05/06 Pontin's Holiday Combination, as they were beaten 3-1 by Championship outfit Plymouth. The side saw a mixture of youth and experience fielded, including summer signing Marc Goodfellow and youngster of the moment, Shaun McDonald.

Line-up: Murphy, Fisken, Graves, Thompson, McDonald, Harrington, Holland, Bond, Nugent, Thorpe, Goodfellow.

Subs: Letheran, Pepperell, McNabney, Laney, Morgan.

On-loan Blackburn striker took his season tally to four against the Swans, as he added to the strike he scored in the friendly at the White Rock in July with a hat-trick on his Plymouth debut. Argyle strolled into the lead before half-time, with Derbyshire firing past Murphy from an acute angle as the Swans continued to pose little threat to the Championship outfit.

Plymouth started the second half well, but Swansea's substitutions appeared to change the game and just 12 minutes later, they found themselves level. Highly-rated youngster Matt Pepperell equalised for the Swans before Chad Bond saw his effort swerve onto the post moments later.

However it was Plymouth who would have the last laugh, with Derbyshire netting twice in the final fifteen minutes to seal the win. The first was an lucky deflection that caught the impressive Murphy out, whilst four minutes from time, the latter pulled down Derbyshire in the penalty area to give the hosts a decisive spot kick. The Blackburn striker slotted home to give the home side all three points.
