Mumford Back On Trial In Conference

Last updated : 10 August 2004 By Richard Evans
2001/02 Swansea Player Of The Year Andy Mumford is now back trying to win a Conference contract, after a number of recent unsuccessful trials. Swans MAD recently reported that Mumford was on trial at Grimsby, but manager Slade was not impressed with what he had seen. It was a sad demise for a player that was at one stage, showing real potential.

Mumford has now returned back to Aldershot Town on trial, the club that he spent some time on loan at last season, and that told him just a fortnight ago to look elsewhere. It appears that Aldershot have had a change of heart over Mumford's position and will allow him to play in the upcoming pre-season friendlies and reserve matches over the next 10 days.

This could prove to be Mumford's last chance to stay in professional football (Aldershot recently went full-time), as it appears that there is a severe lack of interest in the ex-Welsh U21 International. Should Mumford be told to look elsewhere again, he may be forced to fall down the pyramid even further, possibly even as far as Conference North or South.

Swans MAD will keep you posted!!
