May 12th 1984 was the last time the Swans played Championship football(then called the Canon Second Division) where they were beaten 5-0 by Portsmouth at Fratton Park. Hopefully, a win on Saturday against Bournemouth, and a defeat for Doncaster at Huddersfield will see us back in the division once again.

On that day in 1984, the Swans were on their way back down the divisions after John Toshack led them from the old Fourth Division to the old First Division in three successive seasons.

The Swans welcome back, Andrea Orlandi and Marcos Painter from injury and Febian Brandy from suspension, against The Cherries on Saturday. A win against Bournemouth will see the Swans equal the club record points total of 85 which was set in the 1999/2000 season under John Hollins. Paul Anderson may also return from injury on Saturday, but it is thought that Roberto may not risk him until the crunch game against Carlisle next Tuesday night.

Bournemouth, who are facing possible extinction after the collapse of a consortium led by Jeff Mostyn, are without Danny Hollands (calf), while fellow midfielder Marvin Bartley (knee) is extremely doubtful. Jo Kuffour is back after compassionate leave while Warren Cummings, Ryan Garry and Darren Anderton are fit again. Bournemouth could still avoid relegation and will be fighting for survival in League One.

The referee for Saturday's game is Mark Haywood from West Yorkshire.

Swans(probable): De Vries, Rangel, Tate, Lawrence, Painter, Butler, Pratley, Britton, Robinson, Duffy, Scotland. Subs from: Knight, Austin, Way, Brandy, Tudur-Jones, Bauza, Orlandi, Williams

UP THE SWANS!!!!
