Latest News Round-Up

Transfer-talk, injury news and new sponsorship deals all dominate this weekend's Vetch news, not to mention Swansea's 1-0 defeat at Macclesfield on Saturday. Jon Parkin scored the only goal for the home-side, as Swansea's less than impressive start to the season continued.

The speculation over club captain Robbie Martinez continued, with several rumours over his future in the local media. Jackett will apparently meet Martinez on Monday for crunch talks about his future, following his failure to be named in Swansea's last two 16-man teams. The Spaniard has admitted that it would be easy for him to leave at the moment, but stated that he isn't "a coward" and wants to fight for his place in the side. And so the great debate continues.....

On the injury front, Izzy Iriekpen is set to return to training on Monday, targetting the Bristol Rovers fixture as his potential return-date. Lee Trundle is also said to be progressing nicely, although it remains to be seen whether or not he'll be fit as planned for Saturday's clash with Cheltenham.

Friday also saw the announcement of yet another new sponsorship deal for the Swans. The North Bank has been renamed "The Walker's Monster Munch North Bank" following succesful negotiations at the club last week. It was rumoured that Walkers had shown an interest in becoming this season's shirt sponsors, but were eventually beaten by estate agents Re-Max. A statement from the club said that this will be a great financial aid to the club, and that they believed it would be fun to have the addition of the Monster Munch brand name within the title. Interesting......!
