Despite being only 21 years of age, Somner has made 77 starts for Brentford, but has fallen out of favour with new manager Martin Allen. The Under-21 International is looking for a fresh start and has been told that he can leave Brentford for free should Jackett wish to him.

Kenny Jackett has taken Brentford utility player Matt Somner on a two week trial with a view to a permanent deal. Somner will join the Swans in training and Jackett has confirmed that the youngster will also play in Swansea ’s midweek reserve fixture at Bath
