Kenny Jackett has taken Brentford utility player Matt Somner on a two week trial with a view to a permanent deal. Somner will join the Swans in training and Jackett has confirmed that the youngster will also play in Swansea’s midweek reserve fixture at Bath.

Despite being only 21 years of age, Somner has made 77 starts for Brentford, but has fallen out of favour with new manager Martin Allen. The Under-21 International is looking for a fresh start and has been told that he can leave Brentford for free should Jackett wish to him.
