Flynn Misses Out On League Two Return

Ex-Swansea manager Brian Flynn has missed a potential return to League Two football, after Shrewsbury decided to opt for Gary Peters as their new boss. Local media were speculating that Flynn was on a shortlist of applicants for the position, that had been left vacant since Jimmy Quinn resigned in October. However, it appears that Flynn has once again missed out on yet another position, after recently being linked to Burnley, Chester and the Welsh national position.

Brian Flynn was heralded as the "Saviour of Swansea" in 2002, when he took over the vacant manager's position and narrowly avoided relegation to the Football Conference on the last day of the season. However, after a bright start to last year's campaign and reaching the fifth round of the FA Cup, Flynn was sacked in March as he saw his Swansea side lose form and slip to mid-table.

Despite the reports in the local media naming Flynn as favourite for the role, Shrewsbury will appoint ex-Exeter and Preston manager Gary Peters into the Gay Meadow hotseat. Therefore, it appears that Flynn's return to football league management must wait a little while longer....
