The Swans drew 0-0 with West Brom at the Liberty Stadium this afternoon in the Kristian O'Leary testimonial game, in front of a crowd of 5,996.

At times this afternoon you would be forgiven for thinking that the Swans were the Premiership side as they showed plenty of quality on the ball, especially from Gower, Gomez and Bauza. Kristian O'Leary had been suffering from flu before the game and only lasted 14 minutes before being replaced by Darren Pratley.

Even though there were no goals in the game, Bauza and Brandy, who came on during the second-half, both missed clear-cut chances, which were saved by England international and Baggies new signing Scott Carson. Roberto Martinez was pleased with the Swans performance and said after the game:

"It was a good exercise," "You can see all the hard work that we've been putting in during pre-season, especially in Spain, and it's paid off today.

"To play against a side like West Brom was good, we know what they're like on the ball and how well they did last season, and I thought that it was a great test and a great challenge for our players.

"They did everything but put the ball into the back of the net, but I'm really happy with the whole exercise."

Despite finishing goalless there were chances for both sides to break the deadlock but that's what you get in a game between two good sides said the boss.

"When you've got quality sides playing against each other that's what you get. But you can see that the players have got a lot of volume and intensity under their belts, and now is the moment to sharpen things up, but this exercise was very positive."

"Too many people put on the emphasis on the eleven that are going to play at Charlton," he said.

"As you can see we have 24, 25 players and it's important that they are in the best possible condition to play their role in the campaign. It's 10 very demanding months and we need everybody ready to play their role.

"Overall we've got the squad ready to start the season, but it's not for me to select the team, football makes that decision. But the players have all worked really hard."
