Fans Turn On Jackett

Jackett’s return to his old club QPR in the first round of the League Cup turned sour when Swansea fans turned on him and began calling for his head. Frustrated by Swansea’s ineffective long-ball style, that seems to be somewhat of a trend in the South Wales club’s disappointing start to the season, Swans fans began a sequence of chants calling for Jackett to step down.

The large number of Swansea fans who had travelled to London were forced to sit through ninety minutes of dire football from the away side, that eventually lead to a 3-0 defeat. A missed penalty by Kevin Gallen was the only highlight for the visiting supporters, as they were forced to sit through one of the most lack-lustre performance produced by a Swansea side for some time.

To add further insult to Jackett’s situation, a number of chants in favour of Roberto Martinez could also be heard throughout the stadium – the Spaniard watching on from the sidelines. At the final whistle, a large number of supporters remained behind to voice their opposition at the tactics employed by the manager, who appears to be struggling to achieve results with a relatively talented side. “What a load of rubbish” and “We want Jackett out” were just a couple of the songs produced at the end of a wet and miserable evening.

Kenny Jackett has clearly got his work cut out if he is to win back those fans already calling for him to be replaced.
