A depleted Swansea squad must now attempt to overpower a high-flying Reading PLUS Sir Les Ferdinand after the ex-England International signed on a free transfer. Ferdinand reportedly turned down moves to Southampton and QPR so that he could be involved in a Championship promotion push.
With leading scorer Dave Kitson injured, Swansea fans had hoped that Reading could find themselves struggling in front of goal when the two teams meet on Saturday. However, Reading's latest addition means that the Welsh defence will have to be at its best and most vigilant if Swansea are to remain in the hat for the next round draw on Sunday.
Graeme Murty will definitely miss the tie, with Andy Hughes reverting to right back in his place. Sidwell returns after an ankle injury in the centre of midfield and will most likely retake the captain's armband.
Swansea will be without Kris O'Leary, Roberto Martinez and the suspended Alan Tate as Kenny Jackett is forced to solve a mini-injury crisis in midfield. Leon Britton and Andy Gurney both look set to return, with Swansea likely to favour Paul Connor up front by himself, with Trundle and Britton behind.
