SWANSEA CITY 1 v 2 HUDDERSFIELD TOWN

Last updated : 23 September 2006 By Knightfever

Two goals from striker Gary Taylor-
Fletcher were enough to secure all three points for Huddersfield at the Liberty Stadium this afternoon. Taylor-Fletcher struck on 50 & 60 minutes and the Swans only consolation came from a Leon Knight goal, his sixth of the season.

This was yet another drab home performance from the Swans. In the first half both sides looked lively and Huddersfield in particular had a couple of shots which were well saved by Gueret. Andy Robinson was unlucky to score when his well-struck drive was superbly pushed past the post by Glennon in the Huddersfield goal. The second-half was a different story.

Defensively we are leaking goals, which cannot be described as quality, by any stretch of the imagination. For the Terriers first goal Gueret, yet again, failed to come off his line and Taylor-Fletcher nipped in to push the ball past him. Their second was again scored as a result of sloppy defending which again Taylor-Fletcher took advantage off.

Knight's goal on 81 minutes came at the best period of the game for the Swans with just under 10 minutes to go. Knight collected the ball inside the penalty area and hit a low right-foot shot which beat the desparing dive of visting keeper Glennon low to his right. He also had a chance to equalise for the Swans, but his shot sailed high over the Huddersfield goal from a good position.

Our performances simply have to improve, starting Tuesday night against Crewe. If Lee Trundle is fit, I personally would pair him up front with Knight. The big-man little-man combination simply isn't working for us!
