West Ham Reject Williams Bid

Kenny Jackett has admitted that he has had two offers for ex-Yeovil midfielder Gavin Williams turned down by Premiership outfit West Ham, as he attempts to continue to improve the quality of his newly-promoted Swansea squad. Swansea have made two bids - one a loan deal, but the Hammers have stated that Williams will not be leaving the club before the start of the season.

West Ham signed Williams for £250k from Yeovil last Christmas after the goal-scoring midfielder began to attract interest from a number of Championship clubs. Williams is also well known by Swansea fans for inciting the home crowd at the Vetch on Boxing Day 2003, when his late strike bought Yeovil level, before Trundle fired the winner deep into injury time.

Although a figure of hate for many Swansea supporters, Williams' quality cannot be doubted and attracting the midfielder to South Wales would be a huge boost for Jackett's side. However, as things stand at the moment, it appears that Kenny has failed yet again in a move to bring another top signing to the new stadium.
