The injury woes continue for one-time Vetch Field hero James Thomas. Thomas has had an operation to clean up the cartilage in his right knee and hopes that this will mark an end to a nightmare year.

After finishing the 02/03 season on a high by claiming a crucial hat-trick on the last day of the season, that eventually retained Swansea's league status, Thomas has been forced to endure a succession of frustrating injuries - with the latest knee operation set to force him out until the end of October.

Thomas admits that he needs to regain full fitness soon so that he can impress new manager Kenny Jackett and attempt to renew his current contract. ''It is my last year", stated Thomas, "...And I wanted to get it sorted to give me the best chance possible to try to get back in the side.''
