The 26-year-old defender, who has just signed a new four-year contract with the club, capped a memorable week by scoring the goal which earned the Swans a 1-1 home draw against Watford on Saturday - a game in which he skippered the side in the absence of Garry Monk.

"I know the manager before (Roberto Martinez) said he'd have to be forced but I will have to be forced out too," Tate told BBC Sport

"I love the club, I love the area and its the area I want to live in when I pack in playing.

"It was nice to get the contract sorted but there was never an issue.

"There was never in any doubt that I wanted to stay. This is a club that I love so I am proud to be captain when Garry is not available."
