Swans Snap Up Gurney

Swansea have confirmed that they have clinched the impressive signing of Andy Gurney from Swindon Town. The ex-Swindon Town skipper has enjoyed previous spells at Reading and Torquay and joins Swansea on a free-transfer.

Swindon Town fans have voiced their dismay at the loss of a key first team player and have questioned the board's motives in letting the 31-year old leave. However, manager Andy King admitted that Swansea's offer was "too good" to contend with and Gurney moves to Wales with an eye on making his debut against Yeovil on Saturday.

Gurney can play anywhere along the back and in the centre of midfield as a ball winner - perhaps as cover for Kris O'Leary. "I have been looking for a new challenge", stated Gurney, "...and believe that Swansea will not be playing League Two football next season".
