Swans on verge of signing Tabanou

The former France Under-21 international is having a medical at the Barclays Premier League club on Thursday and should become Swansea's second signing of the summer.

It is understood Swansea will pay around £3.5million for the 26-year-old who will provide competition for Wales left-back Neil Taylor.

Swansea attempted to sign Tabanou last January but the former Toulouse defender chose to stay at St Etienne and helped them finish fifth in Ligue 1.

Tabanou's agent Philippe Lamboley previously told BBC Wales: "He has chosen Swansea, he has told me he is not interested in any other offers from any other clubs."

Swansea manager Garry Monk wants to strengthen a squad which finished eighth in the Premier League last season and he has already picked up Ghana forward Andre Ayew on a free transfer from Marseille.

Monk is on the look-out for a goalkeeper following the departures of Gerhard Tremmel and David Cornell with Heerenveen's Swedish stopper Kristoffer Nordfeldt reported to be on Swansea's radar while another striker is also being targeted.
