Swans Must Face Up To Poor Discipline

After Saturday's defeat at Shrewsbury, which showed more resemblance to a boxing match than a League Two football match, Swansea have a mountain of disciplinary problems which could threaten their hopeful promotion ambitions. Swansea now hold the second worst disciplinary record in the division, with Saturday's card-fest just the latest in a worrying trend of ill-disciplined performances.

Kristian O'Leary and Paul Connor were already suspended for the visit of Bury on Saturday, with Andy Robinson likely to join them after his sending off and club captain Roberto Martinez also ruled out after picking up his fifth booking at Shrewsbury. Garry Monk could also face a suspension this weekend, which would leave Kenny Jackett without five fully-fit first team players - not to mention the number of other senior players loitering dangerously close to their five booking limit.

This is clearly an issue that needs to be addressed by Jackett and his coaching staff as soon as possible, as it would be a true shame if Swansea are left blaming such a record at the end of the season for missing out on promotion. However, with so many suspensions looming, fans can expect a new signing within the next couple of days, as Jackett looks to boost his depleted squad.
