Swans manager defends release of ten

"The players I've let go were out of contract and by doing that I've given myself some room to manoeuvre and to bring in new faces," he explained today.

"My budget is extremely tight and if I hadn't made these choices there would have been very little room to bring players in.

"It's important that I get the squad numbers back up to the right level," he continued.

"I won't be rushed into signings, I've waited to see who's available and spent some time going through the list of players being released.

"I've already offered terms to four players and I'm just awaiting their response.

"We've negotiated terms and I'm pretty positive that they'll want to come on board."
