Swans Looking For Confidence Boosting Win

Swansea manager Kenny Jackett is expected to name a strong line-up in tonight's FAW Premier Cup Semi-Final against TNS, in an attempt to provide his stuttering side with a much-needed morale boost. The £100k prize money for winning the competition will also be a huge incentive for the Swans to push on into the final tonight, although they cannot underestimate their Welsh League hosts.

Total Network Solutions are three points clear at the top of the Welsh Premier and have been one of the division's dominant sides over the past few seasons. Located in the small town of Llansantffraid in mid-Wales, TNS progressed into the semis of this competition for the first time in their history, following a 2-1 victory over league rivals Rhyl. A professional outift, TNS have been beaten just once all season and will clearly be looking forward to a break from their Welsh League campaign.

The TNS squad boasts a number of ex-football league players, including ex-Manchester United striker Jamie Wood, who will be more than familiar to the travelling Swansea fans. Signed on a free transfer by Nick Cusack, Wood spent the 2002/03 season at the Vetch Field but after scoring a couple of goals, including Swansea's second in their televised League Cup fixture against Wolves, the striker struggled to make much more of an impact and was offloaded in the summer by Brian Flynn.

Swansea will be without defenders Sam Ricketts, Kevin Austin, Alan Tate and Gary Monk, while James Thomas and Kevin Nugent remain sidelined with long-term injuries. Lee Trundle is also expected to miss the fixture following a family bereavement. However, Kenny Jackett will take the remainder of his squad to mid-Wales and will be hoping his side can score a morale-boosting win ahead of their crucial home fixture against Rochdale on Saturday.
