Ricketts Named In Welsh Squad

Swansea full-back Sam Ricketts has been named in the Welsh International squad to face Slovenia next week. The call-up will be extra special for the ex-Telford defender as it is set to be staged at Swansea's new 20,000 all-seater stadium and Ricketts will be hoping to continue his excellent form on the International stage.

John Toshack was present at Swansea's 1-0 victory over Tranmere on Saturday and despite witnessing Ricketts give away a clumsy penalty in the first half, appeared pleased with what he had witnessed. However, the return from injury of first-choice full-back Ben Thatcher could mean a frustrating evening on the bench for the Swans favourite.

Also named in the squad is ex-Swan Richard Duffy, who is currently on a season-long loan at Championship outfit Coventry City. John Hartson, Craig Bellamy and Ryan Giggs have also been named in the squad, although there is no place for contraversial midfielder Robbie Savage.
