MATCH PREVIEW - FA CUP 4TH ROUND - IPSWICH TOWN v SWANSEA CITY

Last updated : 26 January 2007 By ROW ZZ

The Swans head for East Anglia tomorrow for a first ever meeting with Ipswich Town in the FA Cup 4th round kick-off 3.00pm.

After our giant-killing exploits in the last round, when we won 3-0 against Sheffield United, much is expected from the Swans against a mid-table Championship side. Over 2,000 Swans fans will make the Journey to Portman Road.

Ipswich have several selection problems, especially in defence, where their skipper Jason De Vos is missing with a cracked bone in his foot. They are also without defenders Alex Bruce and David Wright who are both suspended.

The Swans also have injury doubts surrounding Tom Butler, who was the hero in the last round with two goals against Sheffield Unit. Butler is expected to recover from a thigh muscle strain to take his place on the left-side of the Swans midfield. Ian Craney is cup-tied and Kevin Austin and Kristian O'Leary are suspended. Robbo is expected to start in midfield in place of Craney with Izzy taking Austin's place in the centre of defence.

The Swans have not recorded a victory at Portman Road, since 7th November 1981 when Alan Curtis, Bob Latchford and Gary Stanley scored in a 3-2 win.

The referee for Saturday's game is Lancashire referee Mark Halsey. Mark is a Premiership referee who has only officiated in four Swans games in his career which stretches back to season 1997/98. Last season he officiated at the Swans v Huddersfield game at the Liberty which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Swans probable team against Ipswich - Gueret; Duffy;Lawrence; Izzy; Painter; Robinson; Pratley; Tate; Britton; Akinfenwa; Trundle. Subs: from Oakes; Abbott; Butler; Tom Williams; Jones; Allen.
