Lopez set to end stay at Swansea

Swansea City midfielder Jordi Lopez is set to have his contract at the club cancelled by mutual consent.The 29-year-old Spaniard was signed on a free transfer in July 2009 by former manager Paulo Sousa but struggled with injury and being out of favour.

Just five of his 20 appearances have come this season under new boss Brendan Rodgers, the last being in October in the 0-0 home draw against Derby.

Lopez's contract at the Liberty Stadium was due to run until the summer.

It is understood he was one of the highest earners at Swansea so his departure could free up funds for Rodgers to strengthen his squad.

Lopez will become the third player to exit the club since the January transfer window opened.

Striker Gorka Pintado who has gone on loan to Cypriot First division side AEK Larnaca for the rest of the season.

And goalkeeper David Cornell is also out on loan until the end of the season with Welsh Premier outfit Port Talbot.
