Kenny Puts A Bad Week Behind Him...

After a trying seven days that have seen Kenny Jackett scrutinised by many critics, Swansea bounced back with an excellent 5-2 victory at the Bescot Stadium. Swans fans were hardly optimistic following three straight defeats in league and cup, coupled with the fact that the club's last trip to Walsall ended in a 5-1 defeat but Jackett's squad responded in ultimate fashion and started the August Bank Holiday weekend in style.

Beating a side away from home that, were previously unbeaten and only relegated from the Championship 15 months ago, certainly says a lot for how far Kenny Jackett's Swansea have come under his leadership. The fact that several of Kenny's newer signings are now beginning to have an impact on the team also bodes well for the future, with Owain Tudur-Jones, Kevin McLeod and Adebayo Akinfenwa all beginning to settle in to their new surroundings.

But the day surely belongs to captain Roberto Martinez, who reacted to playing against his old club for the first time by scoring his first goal for the Swans since his stunning free-kick against Kidderminster in March 2003. Alongside the enigmatic Leon Britton in midfield, two of Brian Flynn's most popular signings proved that they can help the club succeed at this level.

In the grand scheme of things, Saturday's 5-2 victory at Walsall was only another three points. Nevertheless, Kenny Jackett's side will have proved many doubters wrong with a gutsy and much-deserved win, against one of the league's more fancied sides.
