Goalkeeper Mark Ovendale looks likely to follow Willy Gueret and accept a pre-season trial at Swansea. Kenny Jackett has offered the ex-York City goalkeeper the chance of league football next season, if he can prove his ability during close season training.

Ovendale joined York City in September of last year, yet 44 starts later, was unable to stop the Minstermen from hurtling into Non-League oblivion. Prior to his spell at Bootham Crescent, Ovendale enjoyed spells at Northampton, Barry Town and Bournemouth, before being sold to Luton for a six-figure sum.

Despite York's relegation last season, Ovendale is still higly rated by Jackett, who is becoming increasingly more desperate by the day to find a new goalkeeper before the big august kick-off. Having already missed out on Neil Cutler and Martyn Margetson, Jackett will be hoping that he can find the quality needed in one of his two trialist goalkeepers to further strengthen his squad.
