Jackett: Akinfenwa Deal "Has Died A Death"

Last updated : 17 June 2005 By Richard Evans
Swansea have officially ended their interest in Torquay's after learning that Torquay would be entitled to some form of transfer fee due to the player's age. As the player is only 23 years of age, Torquay would have to receive some sort of financial package for the player, either decided between the two clubs or by tribunal.

''The list of free players came out and, having seen his name, I made an enquiry about Adebayo Akinfenwa", Jackett told the Evening Post. Had he been on a free I would have been interested, but it's going to need a fee or a transfer tribunal so that one has died a death".

Jackett will now turn his attention to other targets as he works furiously to bolster his promoted squad. Now back off holiday, Jackett is working round the clock to improve his Swansea side and supporters can expect plenty of transfer rumours over the next week or so.
