Forgotten Hero Set To End Injury Nightmare

Last updated : 21 February 2005 By Richard Evans
Forgotten hero James Thomas has finally recovered from his latest injury and is available for selection after an injury-crocked 18 months. Thomas has made just two competitive appearances for the Swans this season, after suffering from virtually every injury and illness known to man, but is hoping to fight his way back into the starting line-up and help push his local side over the promotion finishing line.

Thomas was once the name on every Swansea supporter's lips, after scoring a hat-trick against Hull on the last day of the 2002/03 season that eventually secured his boyhood club's league status. However, Thomas has been plagued with injury virtually ever since and after scoring just three times in 22 appearances last season, made his last appearance as a substitute in Swansea's 1-0 defeat at Macclesfield in mid-August.

Thomas' has made no secret of his frustration over the past 12 months and with his new contract set to expire in the summer, the striker is desperate to finally have the chance to impress Kenny Jackett of his worth to the club. The ex-Blackburn Rovers hitman has returned to training and is hoping to make the 16-man squad for Swansea's midweek trip to Darlington.

Do you think James Thomas should be placed back into the Swansea starting line-up, or do you believe that the club's newest striking talents are just too good?? Vote now in our online poll!
