Draw At Edgar Street

Last updated : 25 July 2004 By Richard Evans
Swansea played out a 0-0 draw in their final domestic pre-season friendly of the summer. Once again, Jackett used a large squad, which included his usual blend of youth and experience.

First Half Side:

Gueret

Ricketts - Monk - Tate - Austin

Maylett - Martinez - O'Leary - Fisken

Forbes - Connor

Trialist Willy Gueret enjoyed a full 90 minutes in hist first Swansea start. Maylett and Austin returned after recovering from minor injuries and the familiar partnership of Forbes and Connor started up front.

Swansea probably had the better of the opening half, although chances for both sides were at a premium. Swansea's right appeared the more dangerous, with the movement of Maylett and Ricketts causing Hereford all sorts of problems. Martinez probably had Swansea's best first half effort from a free-kick and Paul Connor could have done more with a couple of half chances.

Jackett deployed the usual number of subsitutions in the second half, with Nugent, Oli, Corbisiero and Pritchard all making appearances. Trialists Sheldon Lawrence and Shaun Byrne also made their first appearances in Swansea's pre-season schedule. Hereford definitely edged the second period, yet Forbes could have stolen the victory with an excellent chance from within the six yard box late on.

Swansea now prepare for their four-game Dutch tour, after enjoying an unbeaten domestic pre-season...albeit against weaker opposition.
