Burgess Bid Rejected

Rushden and Diamonds have confirmed that they have rejected a £75k offer from Swansea for midfielder Andy Burgess, as the bid does not meet their valuation of the player. Swansea must now either increase their bid for the playmaker or consider other transfer targets.

Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins stated that Rushden were "holding out" for a higher valuation of the player but that he felt the Welsh club's offer was more than reasonable. Jenkins also confirmed that he would not be increasing his offer for the player beyond their £75k bid.

Speaking to local media, the Chairman also claimed that Swansea would not be meeting the £65k price-tag slapped on ex-loanee Marc Goodfellow's head by Bristol City. Despite having a reasonable transfer-kitty available to him, it appears that Kenny Jackett is certainly holding out for the right player at the right price...and will not be held to ransom in his search to improve his squad.
